About HCN

EU FUNDED PROJECTS

HCN is, and has been, a partner/lead partner in several EU funded projects. HCN has a particular focus on optimising value chains for health and innovation (INNOLABS, Cross4Health, DanuBalt, BenchCan) and securing added social and economic value from health investment at national and sub-national levels (ESI Funds for Health, HealthEquity-2020, EUREGIO III, HCN in its INTERREG IIIC phase).  EUREGIO III was our first project as a lead partner and informed the EU Council Conclusions (June 2011) Towards modern, responsive and sustainable health systems.

SECURING FUNDING, ADVISORY AND EVALUATION WORK

We are commissioned to co-write proposals to secure major research funding for leading consortia who want to bring hard science, clinical practice and patient advocacy together in improving patient outcomes in cancer care. In the last 4 years we have worked with NKI, IOV-IRCCS, NUST and OECI to secure over €27 million in funding for 5 projects (PRECISION, B-CAST, INTENT, COLOSYS and BenchCan). Beyond this we have brought our experience and knowledge together as an advisor (WHO EURO, DG REGIO) or external evaluator for programmes (H2020, EU Health Programme) and projects (RegHealth-RI).

OUR APPROACH

While HCN started in 2005 as an INTERREG IIIC funded network operation, since 2008, HCN (registered as a non-profit company) has worked to help close the gap between what we know and what we need to do by generating practical “how-to” knowledge in all our streams of work. This is shaped by 5 guiding principles to create value over time: connectivity, pluralism, innovation, resilience and added value. To achieve this, we have worked with people at all levels from government minister to community groups, from comprehensive cancer centres to SME owners and from senior decision makers to students.
