For HCN, the challenge of health sector investment goes beyond the ability to manage assets to achieve cost savings while providing high quality services. It is to answer the question of how health sector investment can contribute to sustainable economic growth and social cohesion within regions.

Conferences, regional policy roundtables

 

HCN conferences and policy roundtables are organized annually and biannually for members and external partners. and hosted by member-regions. These events provide an important learning and networking opportunity, and also serve as HCN dissemination events to attract new potential members.

The  programme of these events are closely linked to the Health ClusterNet Agenda, and try to reflect on the challenges that European regions face and the opportunities European regions have to shape policy, strategic and organizational development.

The main aim is to build these events and generally the HCN operations on the needs of European regions in terms of supporting their regional development activities.

 

NEXT HEALTH CLUSTERNET EVENT

 

The next HCN event will be a Policy roundtable organized in Kosovo in November, 2010 for the representatives of the West Balkan countries. The event will be hosted by the Ministry of Health, Kosovo.

The aim of this roundtable is to agree a process of knowledge sharing and action learning to inform the modernisation of health systems and their contribution to smart, sustainable and inclusive economic growth on the path to EU integration.

The objectives are:

  • To identify priority areas of mutual interest in developing participants health systems as part of the EU integration process
  • To discuss how these health systems currently contribute to economic and social development (the social determinants of health)
  • To agree a process and methods for sharing knowledge and action learning between the West Balkan states in ways that ensure health system investments as part of the EU integration process improve service quality and contribute to economic growth and social cohesion.
