For HCN, the challenge of health sector investment goes beyond the ability to manage assets to achieve cost savings while providing high quality services. It is to answer the question of how health sector investment can contribute to sustainable economic growth and social cohesion within regions.

Policy recommendations

Good practice and innovation will not spread across our regions unless policy makers apply their experience to creating a supportive policy and legislative environment. Policy makers can open the door to help regions realize the potential that comes from successfully engaging the health sector in regional development initiatives that contibute to achieving the goals of the Lisbon Agenda. Ultimately, we face a number of key challenges in promoting policy recommendations based on the knowledge and learning the we have developed.

The three key challenges are:

  • being clear what policy action needs to happen in partner regions and at the EC
  • identifying whose responsability it is to deliver these actions
  • create some clear messages that can be used to promote our four policy agendas.

Health ClusterNET produced four key policy agendas covering health sector procurement, affordable capital investment, inclusive employment and innovation added value.
